The entire frenzied race to catch the best fish has succeeded in developing a breed of fish that is very wary of anything unfamiliar. While this makes fishing more interesting, it has also made fishing much more than just a leisurely pastime. Topwater presentation is one of the most exciting ways and sometimes the only way to catch Bass. Not all surface baits are equal. Knowing when to reach for what kind of surface bass fishing lure can spell the difference between non-action and a strike of a lifetime. Crawlers are bass fishing lures that have a metal plate that will create a wobbling motion as they are reeled along the surface of the water. When the skies are overcast and the water is murky, propeller topwaters are excellent bass fishing lure. This is because this bait directly connects with aggressive nature of the Bass. The ideal place for this bait would be a small, natural lake with plenty of patches and stumps of submerged grass. When the fish are actively schooling, this prop bait becomes all the more effective because it is worked more quickly than other topwaters. A stickbait can drive lunker bass wild. But stickbaits like a spook require quite a high level of skill. It needs a right blend of line, tackle and timing. Bright, sunny days on crystal clear waters are some of the toughest conditions for fishing. Minnow lures work fine in such conditions. These have a slender and long profile and the natural look of a baitfish. So, while catching lure-shy fish, this is perhaps the best lure to use. While using this, take care not to jerk too hard. This will simply turn the fish off. As far as possible, try to mimic the action of a live minnow. Buzzbaits are used to comb a wide area to locate bass. This is mostly used in the evenings or during the early mornings. A change in the direction of the lure will attract fish.

There are a wide variety of bass fishing lure available in the markets today. Newer ones are fast appearing. The key behind successful lure is that it should look as close to the real thing as possible. The fish has to be coaxed to bite. For this, it has to believe that the bait is actually a small creature of the water. Also, a successful angler must take the water conditions, time of the day etc into account before deciding what kind of bass fishing lure to use.
